About

William Smith is an Atlanta based forensic mental health evaluator, litigation consultant, mediator, and psychotherapist.

Will graduated with his Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical Social Work from The University of Georgia in 2010 and then his MSW in 2012 from The University of Washington in Seattle, currently rated as the #2 MSW program in the United States. Both of his degree tracks concentrated on forensic mental health.

As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Will is able to provide a court admissible psychiatric diagnosis for most conditions. Clients often hire Will in this capacity because they need thorough and high quality mental health evaluations, however, it is more affordable to hire a forensic LCSW compared to a forensic psychiatrist or forensic psychologist.

Will’s professional background is heavily grounded in psychiatry, including evaluating and diagnosing mental health conditions in interdisciplinary settings.

Will worked as a psychiatric assessor for Emory Hospital from 2012-2016 and also spent five years working at one of the largest and busiest mental health clinics in Georgia, a challenging position that required high levels of skill in understanding, diagnosing, and treating a wide range of psychiatric conditions.

Will moved into full-time private practice in 2019 and specializes in the evaluation and treatment of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. He also serves as a Marriage and Family Therapist, and has received extensive training in child and adolescent services, developmental psychology, immigration, and geriatrics.

As a result of his professional experience, Will has completed thousands of mental health evaluations.

Furthermore, much of the role of a forensic mental health professional is based in educating. Judges, prosecutors, defense attorneys, probation officers, and other court staff must be well informed about the role of mental health findings in various forensic circumstances. Will spent a year working as an educator for Seattle Public Schools, which included being trained in pedagogy by Columbia University’s Teacher’s College. Will also currently serves as a graduate level practicum instructor for Northwestern University, The University of Kentucky, and Mercer University, where he regularly trains Masters students in psychiatric diagnosing and case conceptualization.

In addition to forensic services, Will is currently the Chief Business Officer of Southeastern Healthcare Partners, LLC, a group that manages several behavioral and integrative health clinics across Georgia, including Greater Atlanta Family Counseling, Athens Family Counseling, The Atlanta Center for EMDR, and The Atlanta Marriage and Mediation Clinic. He serves as the Co-Clinical Director for each of the aforementioned practices.
